Gap in kids' digital knowledge feared as teachers not up to speed on new tech curriculum

Kiwi children are at risk of of falling behind as teachers admit they lack the confidence to roll-out the new digital curriculum.

It's expected some schools will fail to meet the Government's fast approaching 2020 deadline, putting students further behind those in classrooms with tech-savvy teachers, potentially exacerbating a knowledge divide the content was designed to help close.

It could leave New Zealand's modern workforce lacking diversity in years to come, harming the country's future global competitiveness,  says University of Waikato education and technology associate professor Wendy Fox.
