High-tech equipment to help track down rogue wallabies

Environment Canterbury is going hi-tech in the hunt for rogue wallabies in the South Canterbury high country.

"The war against wallabies is not easily won, so we're looking at any new tool that can help us," ECan biosecurity team leader Brent Glentworth says.

And that hi-tech "state of the art" gear is thermal imaging which will be focussed on the Tekapo, Ohau and Lake Pukaki river beds as part of a $15,000 programme running July 22-26. It will be done in conjunction with Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) as land managers.
