Electric scooters approved for Hamilton amid safety fears

E-scooters are set to hit the city's streets.

Hamilton City Council approved a six-month trial, 10 votes to two, for the hire of personal transportation devices from public spaces in the city.

But question marks over the safety of e-scooters, e-bikes and other devices had Crs Mark Bunting and Garry Mallett refusing to give their support.

A staff recommendation was revised by Cr Geoff Taylor removing  the cap of 600 scooters and the number of operators.
