New Zealand is leading the charge to bring autonomous everyday air travel to the masses, with testing of a pilotless aircraft continuing in the skies above Tekapo.
The fully-electric, emissions-free vehicle, called Cora, takes off and lands vertically with the aid of a dozen fans. Once airborne, it flies "on the wing" like a plane.
Cora is being developed by California-based Kitty Hawk Corporation and its New Zealand operator, Zephyr Airworks, which began testing the aircraft in Canterbury in 2017.
