Matamata-Piako allocates $20k to investigate online voting trial

People could use the internet to elect their next Matamata-Piako district councillors, if a business case to trial online voting stacks up.

The council decided to allocate $20,000 to further research how an online voting trial could work, and its cost, at the 2019 local government elections.

The budget would be pooled with similar contributions from other councils, led by Auckland, which were all investigating the cost of participating in the online voting project.
